Summary
The SCADA Engineer I is responsible for learning and assisting in the development, implementation, and management of the SCADA system at Panasonic’s Gigafactory. Additionally, the Engineer helps to document system infrastructure and methods to ensure workflows are established and managed. Furthermore, the Engineer will assist with improving the SCADA system to ensure business performance is reached at its highest level.
*The location can be either Reno, NV or fully remote. Pacific time zone preferred*
Essential Duties
Works with levels II & III to assist with the development, implementing, and managing Panasonic’s SCADA system within the Gigafactory
Supports with the design of new and improve existing Ignition HMI screens in Vision and Perspective.
Create and maintain Ignition tags
Provides support on database programming and design
Assists levels II & III on design control panel layouts and wiring diagrams
Generate SCADA documentation including specifications, architecture, and SOPs.
Support SCADA system customers and stakeholders
Provides support for thorough and complete testing and validation of SCADA network deployments and installations
Other duties may be assigned
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements
- To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees, wearing PPE is a requirement for some roles at PENA and may include equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, dosimeter badges, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.

Qualifications: Requirements - Required and/or Preferred
Education:
- Basic/Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
Essential Qualifications:
1-3 years of experience with SCADA design, programming, and commissioning in Ignition
Moderate understanding of tags, alarm pipelines, gateway servers, edge line servers, transaction groups, recipe management, UDTs, Ignition templates and historizing data
Python scripting
Networking principals as they apply to SCADA
Basic understanding of ladder logic
Knowledge of Modbus, Ethercat, Ethernet IP, Profinet, MQTT, OPC UA and SQL
Background working in a high-volume manufacturing environment
Understanding of electrical hardware, drawings, sequence control and software design
Ability to cooperate and work with related departments including overseas
Flexibility to solve issues with first-principles thinking
Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Agile Project Management
Knowledge of PLC systems, preferably Mitsubishi and Omron Platforms
Successful completion of Inductive University
